TESTIMONIALS

 LANCE M. GANT, FSCEO,

ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF/EMC

City of Lucas Fire-Rescue

Lucas Fire-Rescue uses Novacool for its fire suppressant properties at a lower percentage compared to AFFF. Which is also a cost benefit as we don’t need to buy as much. The main reason we switched to Novacool is for the safety of our personnel when utilizing the product. Being a non-toxic biodegradable material is much safer for firefighters to utilize on scene.

BARRY CRAW, FIRE CHIEF, MT. IDA, ARKANSAS

The Mt. Ida and South Fork Center VFD's are located in Montgomery County Arkansas. We serve Washita National Forest which is 81% rural, hill country so we must haul water to the fire site.  We answered 300 plus calls last year for fires and 292 for other fire departments,

We have been using Novacool over 13 years and here is what we have found:

1. We can put out hot spots/snags and pockets of embers without having to pull a 1 1/2in line by adding 1/2 cup of Novacool to a 3 gl water extinguisher.

2. We keep a 50 gl tank next to the deck gun on our engines with an Elkhart educator nozzle set for 1%. We can knock down a car/ heavy equipment fire as well as a fully involved small structure fire with 500 gl of water and then attack with a 1 1/2in line with foam to complete extinguishment and overhaul them, sometimes with less than an additional 250 gl.

3 We have Elkhart inline educators and a nozzle with 5gl buckets of Novacool on the Mt Ida utility truck that responds to auto/mutual aid calls. If the aided fire department does not have foam during overhaul, we supply Novacool. This has stopped rekindles.

We have used Novacool UEF on boat fires in storage sheds, fully involved graders, fully involved track-hoes, skid steers, tractors, and hay balers. On hay bale fires we use a piercing nozzle and flow foam and water until it saturates the bale, so we do not have to break down the bale.

We seldom go back for rekindles with house fires.

While foam may seem expensive, the cost saving in man-hours and water usage has more than made up the difference.

HERBERT KNAUBE, FIRE CHIEF, MUENSTER VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENT, RETIRED but still active

We are located in far north Texas near the Oklahoma border .

We had a lot of oil tank fires started by electrical storms. For years we tried different foams. They worked but it seemed that it took too long and too much water. Then we tried Novacool UEF and have been using for over 10 years.

When we started using Novacool our time on scene and control time was reduced by half with half as much foam being used.

We have one 350 gpm pump and a Robwen 5-gallon foam injector system with a 500-gallon water tank plus one 1250 gpm pump engine carrying a 25-gallon foam tank. We use 2500 gallons of water with foam injection systems both after the pump and when using 1 3/4-inch lines.

We have 2 rigs that we use on structure and wild land fires. We pour the foam into the water tank on those trucks. It also cut down on rekindles.

We use Novacool on all fires now.
